The Borehole water project for Ndiorie Ariam.
IWMW and Enyindigbo, overcoming resource challenges, commissioned a crucial borehole water project in Ndiorie Ariam, Ikwuano LGA, on December 28, 2021, following Adaigbo Carolyn Ugochukwu's community nomination.
To mark a significant conclusion to the year's activities, the collaborative effort of IWMW and Enyindigbo culminated in the completion and commissioning of the Borehole Water Project in Ndiorie Ariam, in the Osoigwe community of Ikwuano LGA, Abia State.
This vital project had been underway since early in the year, conceptualized as a reward for the community of the most active and outstanding member. Adaigbo Carolyn Ugochukwu, PA to the Convener and Coordinator of the Nigerian South West Chapter, emerged as the top nominee. Her community was selected after members viewed a video showing the only water source in her hometown – a shallow, inadequate, and potentially unhealthy stream.
Despite the resource challenges faced by IWMW and Enyindigbo, both organizations were resolute in their commitment to providing this essential infrastructure to the Orie people. A committee was established to oversee, implement, and finalize the project for its commissioning.
Although completion experienced slight delays, the project was proudly inaugurated on December 28, 2021, and has since been serving the community. The community leaders and residents expressed immense enthusiasm and gratitude upon receiving the borehole.
To celebrate this achievement, a commemorative thanksgiving mass was held at St. Michael Catholic Church Cathedral, Ariam, on January 2, 2022, marking a milestone in the collaborative efforts of IWMW and Enyindigbo in community development and support.
